Eva 1.0 at the Alamo Drafthouse July 16

Well, probably, technically, 1.1.

And a bunch of kaiju movies other days in July.

I was very fond of the Evangelion movies at the Screenland. I regreted that subsequent releases might not be shown at a rea theter here in town. Hopefully the Alamo Draft House will continue with Evangelion. And the Drafthouse calendar is definitely worth book marking & checking in on frequently.
To watch Anime is life. All else is merely waiting.

I'm pretty excited to see signs that the Alamo is going to be an anime-friendly venue.
This particular showing is just in time for me as well. Since I've finished the series and original movies for the first time earlier this year, I'll definitely be there.
I will say, however, that Tuesday is an interesting day of choice.. It works out for me, but I'm guessing most don't have the same luxury. If this is their way of testing the city's interest, it sure seems a little backward..

I don't know, but I wonder if it's simply the day they can get access to the print.

I scratched around and found out that The Drafthouse be showing Eva 1.0 in
Virginia on the 9th
Houston on the 10th,
and Austin on the 23rd.
However, they'll be showing in Kansas City, Denver, and another part of Virginia all on the 16th!
At first I thought it might make sense if they were having to move the print through a few cities, but this confirms that there are at least three available.

I wasn't able to figure out where the print came from, though it seems like a company called "Eleven Arts" provided for them during the original premiere back in 2009.

It also seems like there is a pretty abundant stream of anime showings in both San Antonio (http://goo.gl/lv37X) and Houston (http://goo.gl/tKdJT),
so hopefully the theater here will find enough support to follow suit. :D

I regret admitting that I have no interest in seeing this movie yet another time in theaters. I'm hoping this is not the movie they are testing for demand of anime in KC as it's already been shown twice at the screenland and attendance for this third showing might be low. Hopefully they are simply gearing up to show the third movie later this year!

Yeah, I'm not sure why that didn't process.
I guess that it's one of the dangers of seeing everything 4+ years late hahaha.
In any case, I'm excited that there's a showing now. For me, the timing couldn't be more convenient
and, like Jas said, it's probable that they are trying to lead up to the release of 3.0.

If that's the case, a rewatch of the first two movies (and in some people's case, the show as well) certainly seems called for, doesn't it?

I hope to see this tomorrow, work permitting. If nothing else, a decent turnout should speed up 3.0 coming to theaters.

Pretty great turnout tonight.
The Manager came out before the movie and talked about his own hope to show more anime in the future.

Specifically, he referenced his hope that starting in October there would be at least one showing featured per month.
He also confirmed his intention to show the rest of the Eva movies soon.

I'm pleased to hear the turnout was good, and that they at least know we exist: that's a good thing.

Thanks kindly for the update.
