Madoka Magica Double Feature @ the Screenland

Madoka coming to the Screenland! d=====( ̄∇ ̄*)bイエーイd(* ̄∇ ̄)=====b

The date is Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00pm and tickets are $22 for both movies. The choice to do it the day before Thanksgiving is a little odd and I hope it won't make a poor turnout. Looks like there are 97 tickets left as of now (out of a 150 seat theater, judging from other showings), so it will be nice to see a live tally as the date comes closer. Thank god I didn't go to Chicago.

Additionally, has ANN ever had Kansas City in the title of an article before?

Not that I recall. This film, I don't think has played that many places in the US other then LA and NY. This will be quite a treat. 22 dollars, thats like the price of one episode of Aniplex anime BR's

Are these stand alone movies? I've never seen the series before but I am always game for anime at the screenland.

I think they are a retelling of the series.

I'm ticket number 72 - I have no idea whether or not that means I'm the 72nd seat sold - and the counter did go down one after I bought it.

I wonder how many seats the sofas count as.

Very excited about this. I'm extremely surprised that they chose Kansas City as one of the places to show it. Does anyone know why?

Only what I've heard rumored and know from past events. Patrick Matthews, the ex-manager and current owner of the Screenland Crossroads, is said to be a wealthy film buff; the theater is his hobby. In the past it's hosted screenings of the first and second Evangelion movies and Trigun: Badlands Rumble, plus the live-action Battle Royale movie.

As I understand a recent article in the Kansas City Business Journal, the building housing both the Screenland and some office space has recently had its management transferred and it's for sale. The theater's lease expires in May of next year, so I guess we can't take for granted how much longer we might have it.

Does he own the one that just opened North of the river?

As I understand it, no. All the other Screenlands are owned by a guy named Butch <something>, for whom Matthews was the Crossroads manager before he bought just it from Butch.

At this point I'm not trusting their "tickets sold" counter. It keeps going up and down.

I believe it to be a retelling of the story from the tv series, so yes, I would assume there will be spoilers like this

Why must they do this right before thanksgiving! Usually that wouldn't be a problem but this year I have family coming into town to visit. Extreme sadness :(

Enjoy the show to those that can make it, it should be excellent!

It might be late for this, but I wanted to gauge interest in any sort of pre-show gathering for food or something. The show itself starts at 7:00.
