Hmm, well the lighting isn't particularly different than my usual mid-contrast style so I'll have to presume what you're describing is a feature of the figure itself which does have a distinctly shinier skin paint than most. I had originally tried a blue/green background (the texture is just crinkled aluminum foil) but relegated it to shadow fill duty out of frame to the left after concluding that it rendered the background rather bland; her outfit, the peacock feathers plus the background was just too monotonous. Using red, however, picked up all of the little red accents on her and broke up the background quite effectively but I suppose different things twist different peoples' noodles differently.

I think the emerging-from-shadow motif really works with this one! Nice job.

Glad to see your Detolf construction room is back to being your studio again & new shots. The lighting works great for that pose & I like the depth of field, or lack there of....

Actually the shoot was from my kitchen counter. Macro shots are tricky; those are all pretty much in the f/8-f/10 range believe it or not. There is a neat technique called "stacking" in which you combine photos of various focus depths into [ideally] a perfectly crisp macro shot but since, PhotoShop is now rental software, I don't know that I'll be able to try that in the very near future.

It's entirely coincidence that to get a shot of her looking into the camera just also happens to grant the ideal view of her undercarriage.

Glad the pics are a hit. I was just flexing my wings a little after not seeing my real camera for the better part of a year. It's now on temporary loan back to me so I hope to get in lots of shoots!

I wasn't even speaking of her unmentionables (not that I'm complaining); it was more those half-shut eyes, which always get my heart going dokidoki.

I'm not even sure I like the idea of a composite picture that has everything in focus. Though, to be honest, I might have seen such before and not even recognized them for what they were, so I guess when I say I don't like the idea, that might be exactly what I mean when I'm fine with the reality.

This has been an experiment that's been brewing for months; I only recently actually did some test shots. I never really got the shot I was going for but one came out ok.

Polyester bulk fill, two under-flashes (light blue + purple), a constant white underlight and a dark blue flash far off to the right. What you don't see is the elaborate, spiral-cut black paper mask below the polyester. I had the intention of making it look like a swirling storm with Berserker and Rin emerging from the center. Even with the narrow cutouts, the polyster diffused the light so much that it just glowed overall. Someday I'll get up the nerve to borrow a projector from work and try for better results.

Very good try, your most elaborate success!

I've gotten lucky on getting the amount of diffusion I wanted once or twice, but failed to far more often. Having two colors in the clouds at all is a win.
