I've been seeing a lot of pictures on G+ lately featuring this gimmick. I'm most impressed by the photos that manage to coordinate 50+ "balees"(?).

I saw one of these done at the beach. They had sculpted rings of "shock waves" in the sand, apparently radiating out from someone hitting the ground, and about eight "victims." Brilliant.
