Kami no Shizuku, manga for wine

Postby tychocat2003 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:52 am

A brother/sister team has been successfully publishing a manga about the international wine industry. This news comes from a Japan Times article dated from 2008, but then I also found a nine-episode live-action TV series from 2009, based on the manga.

The manga storyline is that a young man inherits his late father's fabulous wine collection only if he can solve a series of wine-related puzzles. Solving these puzzles, of course, takes him around the world where name-dropping and produce-placement apparently has made the manga a force within the industry. I admit, I don't read manga, and only glanced at the TV stream, so I have little to mention beyond my surprise these exist.

I enjoy all but the snobbish aspects of wine. I saw the Drops of God manga come up for preorder a while back and had to jump on it. I hope it proves to be as unique and intriguing as its premise.
